Dr Peter Sedman - The Surgeon Who Flew Out for Parry

When Parry needed specialist surgery, we needed the very best. And that is exactly what we got.

Dr Peter Sedman is a highly experienced human abdominal surgeon who has spent around 15 years working alongside world leading exotic wildlife veterinarian Dr Romain Pizzi, exploring the fascinating similarities and differences between human and animal surgery. When Dr Romain made the journey out to our sanctuary in the Cameroon rainforest to help Parry, Dr Peter came with him.

In the video below, Dr Peter shares a little about his background, his long working relationship with Dr Romain, and his experience here at Ape Action Africa.

What Dr Peter said about his time here has stayed with us. Having seen firsthand the care we provide to our residents, he told us it is every bit as good as anything he has ever worked with. For a surgeon of Dr Peter's experience and background, those words mean a great deal to everyone on our team.

He also described it as a privilege to have made the journey out to support Ape Action Africa and to play a part in giving Parry the best possible chance of recovery.

We are incredibly grateful to Dr Peter for everything he gave to Parry's care. The journey from the UK to the heart of the Cameroon rainforest is not a small thing, and the fact that he made it without hesitation says everything about the kind of person he is.

To follow Parry's ongoing recovery, stay tuned for Part 2 of his story coming soon.
