We love welcoming visitors to Ape Action Africa.
Visit our primate sanctuary in Cameroon and meet rescued gorillas, chimpanzees, and monkeys living in a protected natural forest environment. During a guided tour lasting approximately 1.5 hours, you will learn about primate rescue, rehabilitation, conservation challenges in Cameroon, and how Ape Action Africa is working to protect endangered species.
Our sanctuary is located in Mefou Park, approximately 45 minutes from Nsimalen Airport roundabout in Yaoundé. We are open seven days a week, with guided tours available at 9.30 am and 2.30 pm. Tours begin promptly and must be booked in advance.

How to get to Mefou
Heading south on the N2 road from Yaounde, towards Mbalmayo, our sanctuary is located in a forest, the turn-off for which is signposted at a village called Ekali II. The last 5 or 6km of the journey is via unpaved roads, and on rare occasions, heavy rains may make the road unpassable.
Please note that from time to time, we may need to close the sanctuary at short notice to carry out emergency procedures or due to adverse weather conditions. To check access on the day of your visit, contact us on +237 6507 90747
Download our leaflet in English or français for further information and directions to the sanctuary.
We look forward to seeing you at Mefou, but if you’re not close enough to visit in person, why not consider donating to help fund our essential work.
