UK Fundraising Co-ordinator

We are planning to expand our fundraising activity and profile in 2013. With over 10 years of primate conservation experience behind us, several highly successful documentaries shown all over the world, a new brand and website – we believe it’s time to step up a gear.

To do this, we need some help from an experienced fundraiser. Working alongside the trustees and our team in Bristol, this is a wonderful opportunity to evolve and expand the Ape Action Africa brand, with a view to maximising our fundraising potential and making a significant contribution to the conservation of gorillas, chimpanzees and other animals in Cameroon.

The Fundraising Co-ordinator will help set and meet ambitious targets to expand the number of fundraising streams and revenue available to us and to increase the charity’s profile among key audiences. We’re looking for the right person to come in and make this role their own.

Areas of responsibility include (but not limited to):

  • Work alongside our trustees to develop and agree our 2013 campaign plan across various channels

  • Turn the plan into action, implementing a calendar of fundraising events, generating correspondence for the campaign

  • Build positive relationships with event participants

  • Making and attending face-to-face meetings where required

  • Internet research, gathering leads, contacts and industry updates

  • Managing database

  • Submitting grant applications on behalf of Ape Action Africa

Key competencies we are looking for:

  • Experience in charity fundraising or marketing

  • Self starter – this is a brand new role, so we need someone who thrives on the thought of making it their own and working with minimal guidance

  • Confident, ambitious and resilient personality

  • First-class communicator in writing, on the phone, and face to face

  • Flexible multi-tasker who is able to work independently as well as part of a team

Results orientated – able to bring a concept to a tangible outcome

  • Passion and good understanding of animal welfare and primate conservation issues

This is a volunteer position only at this stage. If this role proves to be self funding, this will be reviewed at a future date. We are happy to consider both part time and full time applications.
