Dear colleagues, supporters and friends

It is with profound sadness that we must pass on the news of the sudden death of our Director, Colonel Avi Sivan in an air accident on Monday 22nd November 2010 in Cameroon.

Avi and his wife Talila were largely instrumental in running Ape Action Africa and establishing and supporting its predecessor, the Cameroon Wildlife Aid Fund, more than 12 years ago. It is due to the drive they both provided that the charity has become what it is today and Avi enabled many of our developments, often at his own expense, to provide the facilities and management that the animals in our care so richly deserve. Avi will be sorely missed by all those who work for wildlife in Africa and had seen his constant, unstinting commitment to the cause of our charity.

All those that knew Avi will, I am sure, join us in mourning his passing and be thinking of his wife Talila and their family at this time.
